OK, haven't been around in a while. Let's get back on track.
The recordings are panning out well. The sweet and satisfying feeling is a bit characteristic of the heartwarming effect I sometimes get from sipping on a hot beverage (spiked or not) after getting caught in a rain(rain...rrrain)shower - minus appropriate gear, with denims on and with grocery bags in one hand and a rented Fender Precision bass in the other. Wait, that was this past Saturday and, DAMN what a lifesaver that hot beverage was. Remind me to shorten my analogies in the future though. I just loved where I was going with this one. I kinda like it now!!! Self-admiration ensues then reality gently sets in...
I'm back! On to some very fine details 'bout the PROjECT...
Recording sessions in private boutique-oriented studios like the one I'm recording at this month, STUDIO FRISSON, clearly make for a costly affair. F*** it though - I knew what I was getting myself into, at least in the money department. I didn't know how much fun I'd have until I indulged a craving for my first coffee while setting up the drums and talking to both the producer (Don) and my dad (Mark) 'bout anything and everything under the sun.
- By the way, my dad, a genuinely cool man and also a musician/songwriter at heart + in practice, is a true supporter of my music. He stepped it up that day by attending the whole 11-hour session!!! What a dad! -
The process was a learning experience to say the least. The vibe was so great that for one of my tunes, Stay (working title), my sound engineer/producer Don Murnaghan, had a hunch that challenged me as a musician/recording artist. I love challenges. He thought it would be great to add electronica undertones combined with neat & experimental soundscapes to the tune. The sounds, blips and scratches in the song (yet to have a solid title) were made by using real instruments in fun and untraditional ways. I played them and the producer tweaked them using a select 15-20 mixer knobs. I realized that day, especially after experimenting with the aforementioned & untitled song, that I'm doing the right thing by making my music-based goals a reality!
There's a whole lot more in store for me (and hopefully very soon I'll get to share it with y'all). For now I'll appreciate the breather / the time to relax & reflect.
Cheers

Solid read, buddy! I really can't wait to hear the new stuff!
